No One Ever Died From Hard Work

I'm sure people did in fact die from hard work - but probably not many here in America and certainly not lately. This is a subtle way of saying its important to give your employer an honest days work, don't whine about your job, if its more than you can bear - find another but make sure your reason is not because you were just too lazy to preform your tasks.
